Purple?!

Saturday, October 21st, 2006

I am not a purple person, but for varieties sake I am including it.

I think this Cascade 220 will look quite nice as the felted rug
(or as Abe calls it the inpractical slippery little rug)
This yarn (purple, again?!) will be knit up into an a-line skirt.  50% cotton, 50% tencel.
And on a GREEN note…
…here is the men’s sweater so far.

Classic Elite Yarn is Here!

Tuesday, October 17th, 2006

Wow, the yarn is rolling in now. I have to admit, I feel calmer as I have more yarn in my possession, even though I was so wishy washy about committing to the any of it in the first place.

The Inca and Inca Marl in the middle is for the sisters scarf, super long and stripey.
The white Inca yarn is to remake the alpaca top. I’m going to change a few things about it, but it will basically be what you see.
AND…
…this pima cotton and tencel yarn is for a mobile!
The top will be a nest cradling three little eggs,
and hanging from the nest will be 4 little birds.

Peace Fleece

Monday, October 16th, 2006

Yeah! I really wanted to use Peace Fleece for the men’s sweater. I just received a box full of this beautiful green (Shaba) yarn. Thanks for being so fast, guys!

I want to make it ribby.

Fibre Co Decisions

Thursday, October 12th, 2006

Well, I made some decisions, although if I allowed myself I could still change my mind….but, no, I’m sticking with it.

I have chosen Savannah for the Family Tree Throw in the Mother’s Chapter. It features a large sprawling tree with appliqued leaves in three shades. The knitter can customize the throw by arranging leaves as they wish and embroidering the names of family members.

Savannah, with the tagline Organic Comfort, is 50% merino, 20% organic cotton, 15% linen and 15% soya fiber.

For the mother’s cardigan I have chosen Babe in a pretty color called Poppy.

This yarn is so soft, and after blocking it was even softer. 70% alpaca and 30% merino. I am also going to use Babe for the Child’s Sweater, in a pale blue. There are five other “smaller” projects that will feature Fibre Co yarn, more to come on that later…

Fibre Company

Daphne just sent me these samples and color cards. I’m planning on designing a number of projects around their yarn. I love everything she and Iain make, it’s a tough decision!

Hat for Wee One

Thursday, October 5th, 2006

I worked this up last night. Abe thinks it looks like a tomato, but I’ve decided it passes as an apple. What do you think? There will be mittens to go along with it. Rowan 4 ply soft.

Classic Elite Top

Thursday, October 5th, 2006

Just before the book proposal was accepted I finished this design, out of Classic Elite Inca, 100% alpaca. It’s not meant to be in the book, but it certainly will make a nice backup if one of the other tops doesn’t work out.

How do I do this?!

Thursday, October 5th, 2006

Today was my first full day working on Knitted Gifts. Let’s see, all I have to do is design 30 things, knit them, write playful banter, sounds fun. So let’s see, I’ll pick my yarn…okay and then my brain explodes right about here for some reason. I thought this would be the fun part. Why is this hard? Maybe this project will force me to deal with my commitment issues… it’s six o’clock and every inch of my room and the living room looks like this photograph. I think I made some progress today…
