I have received many e-mails from anxious knitters asking how to purchase the Whisper Cardigan pattern since the Spring 2009 issue of Interweave Knits is sold out. I am happy to announce that soon I will have an updated version of the original pattern for sale here on Knitbot and Ravelry! It will essentially be the same cardigan, with a few minor improvements. There will be a much wider range of sizes, including children’s sizes, and a schematic.
5/10/2010 – update:

I must have bought one of the last issues of the Spring 2009 issue of Interweave Knits just for your pattern. I must have been really lucky to get it! I just received my yarn and needles and was just about ready to cast on for the whisper cardi when I read your update. Will the updated version be much different than the one in the magazine? If so, I’ll just have to wait for your updated pattern. What do you think? Thanks for your consideration. Julie
I really love this garment. I want to make in time for a wedding I have to go to this May(2010)
Will I have this pattern in time to make it?
Thanks in advance for you answer.
Jocelyne
The updated pattern will be pretty much the same. The sleeve and bottom edges have a bit of 1×1 ribbing, the sleeves aren’t flared but straight, and the sleeves are knit flat and then seamed.
I hope so! I can’t make any promises about exactly when. My test knitter will be starting on it shortly, and then it goes to the technical editor for sizing. But getting this sweater out to all you knitters is my top priority, so it will be as soon as it can be!
I’m looking forward to making your whisper cardigan for my daughter! How will we know when you’ve posted it on Ravelry? Just keep checking back? Many thanks.
Have you considered releasing versions of the pattern that use a medium weight yarn, such as DK or sport? I’d love to add more Whisper Cardigans to my wardrobe and am thinking a slightly heavier version would be fabulous, even though it would deviate from the “whisper” quality of the original design.
The good news is that with the gauge you are getting with the lace weight yarn on a larger needle, you can substitute a dk or sport weight yarn, you may just have to adjust your needle size.
Yes! Please keep checking back here or on Ravelry, I will sound a loud horn as soon as it’s ready :)
Can’t wait! I have the yarn ready and waiting. Thanks Hannah!
EEEk! I am so so excited for the whisper pattern, you have no idea how hard it is to get hold of a copy of interweave in Scotland! I just finished my featherweight, and can’t wait to get on to the whisper pattern….so so excited! xx
