Yarn Eye Candy: Swans Island

A recent discovery of mine is a yarn company close to home, Swans Island of Northport, Maine.

Originally know as Swan Island Blankets, this company began making hand woven blankets in Swans Island, Maine.  They have grown over the years, and now offer a range of woven products.  Recently, under the direction of Michelle Orne, they started offering hand dyed yarns, dyed in their 1790′s farm house.  All their yarn is 100% organic merino wool, and their dyes are 100% natural.

For my inspiration based project I eluded to in a previous post, I am working with Swans Island fingering weight yarn in the color indigo.
