Funny thing about Mabel's Closet...all the pieces are for "display only". They'll be traveling in trunk shows, promoting the collection. Thanks to the KAL, I now have a Cradle Cardigan for Mabel to finish out the winter in. And I just knit her the stripe hat, with three colors instead of two! Cute.
In praise of knits
Clearly, as a knitwear designer I have a love for all things knitting. But when it's a cold wet winter as it has been lately here in Maine, I'm reminded of how wonderful it can be to WEAR knitwear!
I'm happy to welcome Walpole into my wardrobe. Most often with my samples have to enter traveling trunk shows...the poor knitwear designer has no knits to wear. Thanks to Brooklyn Tweed for sending this one back into my arms...for keeps! I just love it.
I've been enjoying working in Lark recently, watching a new design grow before my eyes.
What are you all working on?
And now...Simple Cardigan
Here is Mabel modeling her fresh off the needles Cradle Cardigan, size 6-12 months in Chickadee frost.
Simple is a variation of the baby cardigan from Mabel's Closet, modified to suit women and children. The sample, beautifully knit by Nicole, is size 40". It's shown on Cloe with extra ease, about 5", on me 2". If you've just completed your first top down sweater during the Cradle Cardigan KAL, congratulations! Now make Simple for yourself!
