Today’s question was about Lettuce Pullover, but applies to Wispy, Whisper and Featherweight:

Hannah – how is the original garment wearing? I’m concerned about the pilling and stretching with that Malabrigo Lace.
Thanks!

I haven’t found stretching to be an issue.

Malabrigo yarns do pill, it’s true, especially in areas that rub together such as under the arms.
Here are some suggestions:

sweater stones and razor blades for removing the pills

avoid wearing your sweater under anything like a jacket, especially if that jacket doesn’t have a lining. You want to show your sweater off anyway, right?

it shouldn’t pill forever! If you keep up with the initial pills with your stone or razor the pilling with slow down.

What is your experience, knitters?

For quick reference, here are the yarn requirements for all three sweaters:

Wispy Cardi:

Sizes: To fit chest/bust: 25 (28, 31, 34, 38, 42, 46, 50)”

Featherweight Cardigan:

Sizes: Bust: 36 (40, 43, 47, 50)”

Yarn: 2 (3, 3, 3, 4) skeins Malabrigo Lace

I do have copies of the Fall 2010 Knitscene on hand, and it will show up in the store soon. If you can’t wait and want a copy right away, I can make it happen!

- if you are purchasing Malabrigo, when you check out through Paypal leave me a message and I will add the magazine manually for you

- if you just want to purchase the magazine, e-mail me and I will send you an invoice through paypal (hannahfettig at gmail dot com)

The magazine is $7.99, no additional cost for shipping if ordering yarn. Otherwise $4.95 within US, $9.95 to most other countries.

If you can wait, the magazine along with Fresco and Organik will show up in the store soon.

Well, here’s the what.

Oh dear, it appears there is an error in the Carrot Cardigan instructions that is baffling some knitters.

I will set it straight.

Gauge 24 sts and 33 rows = 4” in St st on smaller needle
(note: this is an adjustment, it is printed incorrectly as on larger needles)
Tools
• Size 6 (4 mm): 32” or longer circular (cir) needle
• Size 8 (5 mm): 32” or longer cir needle

The size 6 needle is used for the entire sweater except for the last few inches of the collar. This is knit on a bigger needle to help it fold over nicely.

Hope this clears it up for most people, spread the word!

My fabulous sample knitter just sent me the Wispy Cardi knit in Canopy Fingering. Isn’t it beautiful!?

Even though the yarn is fingering instead of lace weight, the alpaca and bamboo blended in with the wool keep it whispery. Love!
It gladly joins it’s sister cardigans.
