Sunday Driving in Summer Scarf

Sunday, August 10th, 2008

 whitefield.jpg

I completed my summer scarf.    I cast on 350 sts with Nashua Handknits Ecological Cotton on a US 10 needle and knit in garter stitch  through 2 skeins.  Not rocket science I know, but it makes a perfectly good summer accessory.

I also cast on for the Ravelympics Hana Jason’s Gathered Pullover from Winter 2007 Interweave Knits using Garnstudio Alpaca.  This knits up so fast - it’s sport weight knit on a US 7 needle.

Knit Gossamer Scarves for August

Sunday, August 3rd, 2008

Abe just showed me this clip from the New York Times Fashion & Style Section.  Apparently women, and some men, are wearing gossamer scarves all over the city, alongside people in bikini tops and the like.  You can see lots of great photos if you follow the link.

Last night I finished the yoke on my Nashua Top, leaving me with just the finishing to do.

It took only one skein, leaving me with this:

My challenge to myself is to whip up an August Scarf by the end of the week.  I will keep you posted.   If it turns into anything interesting, I will gladly share the pattern here.  But lets not get ahead of ourselves…

Back from Vacation

vacation.jpg

I fell in love with the water these last 3 weeks. What am I going to do now that I can’t step outside and slip straight into it? It was a much needed break, and I must admit not a lot of crafting took place.

I started Eunny’s Endpaper Mitts, using The Fibre Company’s Khroma DK in Olive Oil and Aegean.

Since our return I have made progress on a piece for Nashua Handknits.

Also since returning I’ve caught up on the first two episodes of Project Runway Season 5. My favorite so far is Leanne Marshall, I’m plugging for you little buddy!

Hannah’s Projects Roundup

Tuesday, July 8th, 2008

We are leaving for a much needed vacation today. I thought before I left I would take stock of all my unfinished projects and decide which ones to bring with me to work on while I lounge in a beach chair for the next two weeks.

1. Habu Stockings - definitely not taking with me!

2. Classic Elite Linen Pants

Dusting off the Sewing Machine

Saturday, July 5th, 2008

It has been far too long since my last sewing project.  I revved up the Bernina to help a friend make some curtains and thought, oh yeah, I love sewing!  I whipped up this dress AND lined it in no time flat.

It always blows my mind how much faster sewing is than knitting!

Donovan’s Sweater

Monday, June 16th, 2008

Remember the story of the yarn ball that got away in Ohio? It turned out I really needed that yarn. When I got home, I was working on the sweater I have been making for my friend Jenny’s baby, and I came up one sleeve short. Ahh! And only 4 days before the shower. Anna was all out, so I ordered online, and it arrived in the mail Friday afternoon. Abe delivered it to me at Knitwit, and I went to work.

Saturday morning I put the finishing touches on - just in time! The pattern is from Greetings from Knit Cafe - it was super fun to knit.
