Knitbot Snack Size Pattern Series

Last November I posted these instructions for a super simple beret I had whipped up for my cold early mornings here in Maine.  I was surprised by how popular it became!  I certainly didn’t invent the stockinette stitch beret.  It did show me that sometimes as knitters we want basic, especially when we have a gorgeous yarn to showcase!  Since I posted the free pattern, people often e-mail me and ask for the beret pattern in different weights.

Just in time for fall, I am introducing the Knitbot Snack Size Pattern Series.  You won’t find rocket science here, but you will find classic accessories you can work up for the cooler weather ahead.

The first in the series is the Day Beret.  It is the Early Morning Beret, sized for DK weight yarn.  The pattern includes instructions for a child and adult version.

Snapshot of my weekend

I have my feet up today – literally.  I stepped on a piece of runaway charcoal last night at a family bbq, scalding my bare foot.  Ouch!

A little knitting (with Acadia!) and some manuscript reviewing.

I hope everyone is having a lovely weekend!

Coastal Knits Preview

I’ve had something big in the works since the beginning of the year, and I can finally tell you about it!   Alana Dakos and I have joined forces, and are excited to announce our collaborative project.  It’s a book!

You may know Alana from her popular Never Not Knitting podcast.  This is how we officially “met”, she interviewed me on an early episode a few years back.  Since then we’ve become good friends.  Alana lives in California, and I live in Maine.  We thought it would be interesting to each design pieces inspired by our local coasts.  With this concept in our hands, Coastal Knits was born.  We’ll be revealing more details in the coming weeks.  I can tell you that pre-orders for our self-published book will start in September, and it will be available in October.

Want to see the projects?!

These first 5 designs are mine.  All the photographs were taken by the talented Carrie Bostick Hoge:
