Knitscene Collection: Lapis Yoke

June 30th, 2010

The second piece in my Knitscene collection is the Lapis Yoke pullover, knit from the top down out of The Fibre Company Organik, shown here in seawater.

The Knitbot store will be stocked with Organik in time for the July 20 release of the magazine, so please check back if you plan to make this sweater!  I will also be stocking the magazine itself, so you can enjoy one stop shopping.

Knitscene Collection: Lettuce Pullover

June 27th, 2010

The Lettuce Pullover is the first of three of my designs featured in the Fall issue of Knitscene, due out July 20.

FettigRaglan1

FettigRaglan3

If you are a fan of Featherweight, you might consider this light and airy pullover.  It is designed in the same wonderful fabric created by Malabrigo Lace knit on a size 6 needle.  This simple, wearable knit is worked from the top down. The collar is knit as a separate piece and attached, creating a soft frame around the neck opening.

Pattern info:

Sizes 32 (34¾, 37¾, 40½, 43½, 46¼)” bust; shown in size 32″
Yarn Malabrigo Lace (100% merino; 470 yd [430 m]/50 g):
• #37 lettuce, 3 (3, 4, 4, 4, 5) skeins
Gauge 28 sts and 40 rows = 4″ in St st
Tools
• Size 6 (4 mm): 32″ circular (cir) needle
• Size 6 (4 mm): set of double-pointed needles (dpn)
• Markers (m)
• Stitch holders
• Yarn needle

By the time this pattern is available, the knitbot store should be fully stocked with Malabrigo Lace!

Wispy Cardi Sizing

May 29th, 2010

A few knitters have asked for clarification on sizing for Wispy Cardi.

The pattern includes this sizing information:

schematic

Sizes:

Child’s 4/6 (8/10, 12/14, Women’s S, M, L, XL, XXL)

Finished Measurements:

To fit chest/bust: 25 (28, 31, 34, 38, 42, 46, 50)”

Across back measurement (armhole to armhole): 17.5 (19.5, 22, 24, 26, 28, 30, 32)”

Sleeve circumference: 10 (11, 12, 13, 14.5, 16, 17.5, 19)”

How do you determine which size to knit based on the “across back measurement”?

To clarify, the measurements listed here are the actual measurement of the sweater, from it’s armhole to armhole, NOT the measurement across your back from armpit to armpit.  To figure out which size to knit, put your arms at their sides.  (You might need some help with this one!) Start at the side of your left arm, then across the back of your arm, across your back, across the back of your right arm, finishing the measurement at the side of  your right arm.

Because the sweater is knit from side to side, the good news is you can try it on as you go and make adjustments.

I hope this is helpful.  Any other questions?
