Pinterest, Ravelry, Twitter, Instagram, Facebook...kaboom! That's the sound of my brain exploding. Recently I've been feeling really overloaded by my time spent on social media. Last week as I was about to check Instagram for the 10th time in a day I thought, you know what? I'm done. And I deleted the app right off my phone. After thinking about it I realized what I need is a vacation from thinking about what other people are up to all the time, some time to just be in my life, in the moment more. I think this happens to a lot of us, right? We ebb and flow. NOW, that said, I don't want Knitbot to drop off the face of the digital earth. As I lead up to new releases, I like to share my process with all of you.
I've been sewing more, and what I discovered is that many seamstresses on the web are sharing their photos in a place I used to be and love: Flickr. Remember Flickr? I was recently taken to Fancy Tiger's photo stream as I was searching for sewing patterns. It was the first time I'd seen Flickr since it's redesign. It's beautiful, and you now get a terabyte of storage for free. It's feeling a little quieter over there, too, peaceful, feels good.
So I've set up a Knitbot Flickr account, plus started a Knitbot group which anyone can add their finished project photos to. Oh sure, I'll still be popping up in the other locations. But I'm going to try resting for awhile on Flickr, posting sewing and knitting project photos. Will anyone be joining me?
