If you've been a faithful reader of this blog, you know that I have always been a fan of The Fibre Company. It started so close to my home, just a few miles away on the Portland waterfront. It was my first love affair with luxury yarn, and while I have opened my heart to other yarns over the years, The Fibre Company will always have a special place.
Kate and Courtney of the Philadelphia based Kelbourne Woolens started distributing Fibre Company yarns in August of 2008. I have always been impressed with their design work. So you can imagine my enthusiasm at the release of their first book, Vintage Modern Knits: Contemporary Designs Using Classic Techniques
, which features only Fibre Company yarns!

The book contains 20 designs divided into 3 sections - Rustic Weekend, Vintage Feminine, and Winter Harbor. Each design has roots in a vintage style or technique, and then is given a modern twist. Each piece is thus very thoughtful, and it's interesting to read the history behind each one.
Following are photographs of some of my favorite designs, including some bonus shots of Kate & Courtney modeling their work!

Adelaide Yoke Pullover using Terra

Yangtze Cardigan using Canopy Fingering

Margarethe Lace Shawl using Road to China Light

Here Kate models the Margarethe shawl & the Telemark leg warmers

Erin Cardigan in Savannah

Vorderrhein Hat in Organik

Maple Bay Cardigan in Organik

This is a 2 for 1, because I love the Rhodes Point Gansey in Road to China AND I love photos of people laughing.
To celebrate the book's release, I'm happy to be able to offer a copy of Vintage Modern Knits and 2 skeins of
Canopy Fingering in Chiclet Tree to make the Cady Twisted Stitch Mittens.

A winner who will be selected at random on Friday, February 18.
