Weekend recap

This weekend family came to town for the annual Spa Knit & Spin in Freeport.  We didn't actually get that much time there, my aunt flew in from Iceland on Friday so she was exhausted, and I have a toddler, need I say more. I did get to do a little yarn shopping.  Ball and Skein was in the marketplace, and I bought a skein of Sophia in Cinder.  It's 400 yards of merino blended with 10% cashmere and 10% nylon, fingering weight.

We took a trip up to Purl Diva so my Grandmother could get some needles.  I left with 3 skeins of String Theory, which is hand dyed in Blue Hill, Maine.

Here are 2 skeins in Delft and Carina.

Our visit was cut short once Jonah started sweeping the floor with a particularly beautiful skein of madelinetosh pashmina. (sorry, Ellen!)

In other news, it snowed all weekend.

While I certainly long for Spring, it is beautiful right now.

Indie Indulgence at Fibre Space

Since Danielle Romanetti opened fibre space, a fantastic local yarn shop in the DC area, she has offered all kinds of interesting classes and events.  Her latest offering is a sweater club called Indie Indulgence.

Four designers (hmmmm....was one of them me? shhhhh...) contributed to the four part club which is shrouded in mystery.

From Danielle's description of the club:

Join the Indie Indulgence club for a year-long exploration of great indie designers and beautiful yarns. You will receive a new, previously unpublished sweater pattern and corresponding yarn in March, June, September and December – a package at each season. The Club offers a range of projects – vest, pullover, cardigan and tunic length pullover. Each one is exclusive to the club for 6 months! The designers are wonderful independent pattern designers that we know you will love just as much as we do.

You will also receive a special surprise from us with each package, and as a club member you will become part of a great community of knitters. Meet with club members at a monthly event to share your progress, get support, and socialize! Membership in the Indie Indulgence Club will get you access to these exclusive meet ups!

Yarn Eye Candy: Blue Sky Alpacas

Believe me when I tell you there are a lot of exciting things in the works over here.  You can expect at least 6 new patterns releasing by April 1!  I will share preview photos as soon as I can. In the meantime, here is some beautiful yarn that was sent to me by the nice folks at Blue Sky Alpacas.
