Mabel's Closet Pattern Preview: Autumn Frock

Note: Mabel's Closet was due to release on the 19th. Due to an unexpected delay, it will be another week or so. I'll post the new release date as soon as I am sure of it! When I first found out I'd be having a baby girl, I said, I'll never put her in pink. Well, we all know that didn't stick. I've warmed right up to the color, and here's proof in the Autumn Frock. I love the subtlety of this Quince color: petal.

As I mentioned in yesterday's post, I love stripes. This Stripe Hat may just be my favorite piece from the collection, with a button on the tippity top.

The scoop neck of Autumn Frock is plenty big to pull over babies head. Also, it's worked from the top down, so if you'd like it to be less like a dress and more like a pullover sweater - easy. Just work less rounds of the body!

Here's a photo Carrie took of Mabel wearing the little ensemble now, at 5 months, she was 3 months for the official photo shoot. Love. it.

Mabel's Closet Pattern Preview: Spring Jumper and Beret

I...love...stripes. A good percentage of the outfits in our household, both for the children and the adults, feature stripes. While you can pair the Cradle Cardigan and the Autumn Frock with something stripey, I wanted to also design a knit piece with stripes.Hello Spring Jumper.

My (amazing in every way) assistant Jerusha knit this sample. She did a beautiful job executing a technique you can use when knitting stripes in the round called jogless jog. The individual pattern available to yarn shops and the book / e-book explain in words how to do this yourself, and soon I'll have a video tutorial for jogless jog here on Knitbot.

Mabel's Closet Pattern Preview: Cradle Cardigan

This little cardigan started it all...I'd had it on the needles since I first got pregnant.  I was playing around with color work for the yoke when Carrie gently reminded me what my design work is all about: keeping it simple.  And so Cradle Cardigan found it's way, a cardigan fit for baby with the simple spirit of many of my designs for women. Mabel is 3 months old in the above photograph, wearing the 0 - 6 month size.  Here she is in the same size at 5 months.

It works for both ages!  Hopefully that help you knit with confidence for the little baby in your life, knowing they can get at least several months of wear out of it.

As I mentioned in yesterday's post, I will be hosting a knit-a-long for this sweater on the blog via video beginning on the 26th.  So when you go to purchase Mabel's Closet on the 19th, grab a few skeins of Chickadee, too, if you want to participate!
