April Showers Bring May Flowers...and Deadlines!

6 weeks and counting, tick tick... In recent flying rodent news, Abe awoke one morning last week to the sound of chirping coming from the other room. Upon investigation, he found this all tangled up in my yarn basket.

She had injured herself and could not fly. A nice woman who handles bats came and took her away. All the best, little friend!

Here is some show and tell:

The sisters pillow is coming together just as I hoped. I am almost finished with the trim that connects the front and back.

I found these cover buttons for the center, which I will make a little cover for.

Mo finished knitting the purple rug and started assembly.

I finished the assembly last week at Knitwit.

It has been suggested that perhaps it need not be felted, why not leave it as a throw? That is yet to be determined.

Speaking of giant knit throws, Lynn completed the family tree throw. tree.JPG

I'm trying to decide where to go with this. It has been suggested that I felt this (I can here Lynn screaming from here...noooooo!) and embroider all over it. I'm going to think on it for awhile.

I love how the daughters socks came out. Totally vintage looking.sock.JPG

Juggling balls, awesome.

Mens vest, a little bit boringsville, but lets face it, isn't that what men want? Beautifully knit by one of the guild knitters.

And finally I would like to give a shout out to my sister Theresa by showing off this throw she is working on.

Knit Animals are Blowing My Mind

cali.JPG We are back from California.  All I can say is boy am I tired.  A red eye flight + 3 nights of insomnia = crazy lady.  Maybe it's because my mind is chewing on the construction of knit animals.  Wow, I have never done anything like this before.  It's really hard.  Here is what I have done on the bear so far.

teddy.JPG

A bit of a freak show at the moment, but I think...think he is four limbs and one eye away from cuteness.  Obviously that string won't be hanging out of his right eye.

While in San Francisco, I bought the rest of the yarn I will need at a shop called Imagiknit.

Tiny red yarn for the heart pin.

Lynn called and said she has the Family Tree Throw finished, and her knitters have the juggling balls, socks and some other items done.  Yeah, I can't wait to see them.

California Here I Come

We are taking off for California tomorrow. I am only bringing the skirt, which is mostly straight knitting, for the plane, and the teddy bear and kangaroo. When we land back in Maine, I need to have in my possession two stuffed toys. Thats the rule. pillow.JPG

I am SO pleased with how the sisters pillow is coming along.  Look at that, right into a perfect circle, I still can't believe it.

The Mothers Cardigan finally grew some sleeves.  All that's left to decide is how to finish the neck, and attach the buttons.  Yeah!

This week necessity demanded I do a bit of sewing.

Cushion covers for the kitchen chairs.  I couldn't stand the other ones another second.curtains.JPG

I made these curtains for Abe's office out of fabric I got in the Ikea reject bin for $1.
